Funny kid comments

Grace and Sophia can be frustrating but they are hilarious!  This week I found out that Sophia can talk like a robot. My attempts to take a video of this have been disappointing but I'll keep trying so that I can share it.

Grace also started a story a few days ago with, "Mommy, do you remember, way back in the day..." I think that by the time she's 5 she'll be reminiscing about when she had to walk uphill both ways to school, in 5 feet of snow!

After Grace had been out riding her bike today, she came inside and said, "Mom, I just came in for a quick milk break!"

Trying to focus on the cute...

Holy Cuteness!
Okay, so Grace has always been "spirited" and really, I thought that after her, Sophia would have to be a piece of cake.  Right?  WRONG!  Sophia is even more independent and strong-willed than Grace!  How is this possible!  I keep reminding myself that these are wonderful traits for girls to have.  I'm praying that these will be very positive for them in the future, like resisting peer pressure. {Deep breath}

Lately, Sophia has been really trying.  Sometimes, when we give her a direction she puts her hands on her hips and says, "No, I won't."  Yikes!  She's not even two, yet!

These last couple of days, Grace, too, has been a challenge.  In order to get over that stuff, I'm going to share a few cute things that Grace has said:

  • "That's actually appropriate.  You can say that, if you want to.  If it's inappropriate  you don't say it because that would be rude!"  (Keep in mind, all of this is with a "w" sound for r's)
  • "Why do I have such a small amount of milk in my cup?"

The girls like to "play at the beach"  (curve on our road where sand accumulates)
A funny "bit" that the girls have going lately is that Grace will go in to use the restroom.  She'll conveniently forget to get some "paper toilet" and call for Phia.  Phia comes running, "I coming, Gacie!"  Phia hands Grace the toilet paper and Grace replies, "Thank you so much, Sophia.  You're a big helper!"

Breaking up the Routine

As a mother of two little girls that spends almost all of their waking hours with them, I find that I can easily get stuck in a rut.  Do you know what I mean?  Get up, stagger to the coffee pot, change diapers, nurse the baby, make and eat breakfast, etc.  That has been bothering me a lot lately and I've been trying to come up with some fun things to break up our "routine" days.  I have a good friend that is wonderful about getting home from work and taking her son to the park and she has inspired me to really try to relish these days while my girls are still little!

Here is where I really am kicking myself for not taking more pictures, but we have had some fun things going on around here.  It all started with Grace, 3, asking if we could eat dinner at a restaurant.  It is something we rarely do but she really seems to enjoy it.  I decided, in the spur of the moment, that we could have a restaurant at home!  Why not, right?  We got home and I set the table with place mats and all of the "little extras" I could think of.  I invited the family in and helped them get seated.  I brought Grace a glass of ice water with a straw and her little face was so excited!  Precious!  It really was just a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup dinner but I think we all had fun.

From there, I've started trying to grasp any opportunity that presents itself for me to mix it up.  The other night Bob and Grace were reading "Green Eggs and Ham", before bed and I asked Grace if she'd like to try it sometime. She got  all excited and said, "Yes, please, Mommy!"  That was our breakfast the next morning.  I must say, it was really tasty!  I diced up some leftover ham and sauteed it with some garlic, added scrambled eggs and a few drops of green food coloring.  Delicious!

On a recent rainy day, we had a lunch of popcorn, raisins and turkey on the living room floor while we watched a movie!  It was so fun and Sophia, 19 months, even sat still for quite awhile!

As these fun ideas have started to accumulate, I am really committed to trying to get some pictures of our fun.  I'll post some more soon!

Grace's First Birthday

This seems so long ago!  Grace looks so little!  What a sweet little peanut!

Summer 2011

This one is pretty self-explanatory from the title... Summer 2011.  This was all about Sophia's first summer.  I wasn't sleeping much so a lot of  it is great to have pictures to help me remember!  It's so strange, it seems like Sophia was just born yesterday but also that she's always been here with us!  These girls are such a blessing!

Photo Book

How fun!  I am clearly just starting to play with Blogger and learning how to do things on here but, wow!  I love that I can share the photo book that I just made!  Look for more posts with the other photo books I've made!

This particular one is of Sophia, since I just have one for her yet have three for Grace.  (Oh, the curse of being the second child)
